It’s that time of year again to EARN money for your scout account and have the opportunity to listen to great music with your family and friends!
What is it: neatly & precisely setting up tables & chairs for the symphony patrons at Conner Prairie in your CLASS B UNIFORM
Where is it: 13400 Allisonville Road. Meet at the flagpole in front of the stage
How to get to the stage: after turning into the main entrance, take the first right before the main parking lot. Follow the road behind the Apple Store. Proceed to the 4 way stop and take a left. Follow that until you come to a small parking lot.
Who may help: each scout registered with Troop 199 may bring up to TWO volunteers at least 16 years of age to earn money towards his scout account. Volunteers participating in the setups, resets, & teardowns receive free admission to that evening’s concert. Concerts begin at 8:00 with gates opening at 6:00 (unless otherwise noted).
Why participate: average earnings last year among ~50 scouts were ~$260/scout with some earning $700 – $900. Only those actively working the entire shift will receive full hourly wages. This is a labor intensive fundraiser, but scouts are well compensated for their effort.

    2017 National Jamboree

Scoutmasters, Venture Crew Advisors, and Committee Chairs –

The BSA National Jamboree will be held from July 19 – 27, 2017. 40,000 Scouts will participate in the Jamboree at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. The National Jamboree is a once in a lifetime experience for the Scouts who attend and often the pinnacle of their Scouting career.

Crossroads of America Council will take six Boy Scout troops and two Venturing Patrols to this exciting event. Registration for our contingent is now open and spots are expected to fill quickly. Please help us communicate this event to members of your unit and encourage them to attend. Qualifications for those attending are listed on the attached flyer.

Even though 2017 seems a long way off, Scouts should register now for the National Jamboree to take advantage of the payment plan. Spreading the payments over the next two years will make attending more affordable than registering for the Jamboree in 2017 and trying to come up with the full fee in a short period of time. Registering now gives a Scout almost two years of saving birthday/Christmas/special occasion gifts and money to help pay for the trip.

Troops should also start planning for the National Jamboree during their annual planning conference. The Jamboree can be part of your 2017 high adventure activities. Boys attend the Jamboree as members of a council contingent, not as an entire troop. Groups of less than eight boys from a single troop do not have the worries of filling a “crew” that you have with other high adventure trips where you can lose the reservation for everyone if you do not have enough spots filled. If you have less than 8-10 boys participating in these outings, you should consider slating the Jamboree as your high adventure trip for 2017.

Youth wishing to attend the Jamboree must complete three steps at this time. A place in the council contingent is not reserved until all three steps are complete.

    1) Complete the Crossroads of America Council online registration and pay the deposit –

    2) Submit the Crossroads of America Council Parent Consent and Unit Leader Approval form to the council – page 3 of the attachment

    3) Complete the BSA online registration and submit any requested paperwork –

Thank you for your help in publicizing the 2017 National Jamboree to your unit’s youth. If you or they have any questions, please contact Natalie Pearce (, 317-813-7067); Ted Klick (, 317-813-7091); or Jay Soucy (, 317-813-7095).
